Distributor Education

Maillefer is dedicated to helping the dentists and endodontists who use our products to become better practitioners. We also want the distributors who deal with these doctors to become more aware of the tools and techniques used to successfully perform root canal procedures. We regularly visit with distributor representatives around the country to help them better understand the key principals of endo and the equipment they are using.
Key portions of that training are available here by clicking on the appropriate links below.

Seven Steps of Endo

The need for a root canal develops when an infection gets into the pulp tissue. These infections can be caused by any number of situations. In a root canal procedure, the dentist will open up the tooth through the crown (or top). This simple act relieves pressure and often this can bring a great deal of pain relief to the patient.  The pulp, or nerve tissue, is then removed and the resulting canal space is filled with a bio-compatible material, (most often gutta-percha) to keep bacteria from re-forming in the canal.

File Techniques

Getting to the root end can be tricky business. How a dentist opens up the canal space often dictates the instruments he or she will use.

Obturation Techniques

Once the canal is cleaned out, it has to be filled. While other materials, such as pastes and silver points, have been used over the years, the standard today is gutta-percha. But there are different ways to introduce the gutta-percha into the tooth.
